It’s finally here. You sit down, tuck your napkin into your shirt (because who are you kidding, it is not a day to pretend to be fancy), open your mouth to take a bite when suddenly, *PANT PANT PANT!* Your pup “subtly” reminds you that he, too, has been looking forward to Thanksgiving all year. And why shouldn’t he? He’s a part of the family too. If there is one thing to be grateful for this year, it is the internet thinking of everything, even Thanksgiving recipes for your pup.
This is a super easy recipe where turkey meets dog food. In all honesty, this combination of ingredients is probably healthier than anything we will be eating. Combine turkey, butternut squash, quinoa, and organic brown flaxseed to create this delicious treat for your pup. It doesn’t look appealing, but they will love it.
Pumpkin Dog Treats!
If it has peanut butter, it’s going to be a safe bet your dog will gobble it up. You will need flour, peanut butter, canned pumpkin and eggs to create this festive treat. If you want to be super extra, use a festive shaped cookie cutter.
Sweet Potato Kong!
To keep your puppy from trying to find scraps, distract them! Fill their kong with a turkey and sweet potato mixture to make them feel included while they enjoy their delicious treat and you enjoy your dinner in peace.
Golden Turkey and Apple Meatloaf!
The best part about this recipe is you probably will already have most of these ingredients from your other Thanksgiving meals. Combine turkey, peas, celery, sweet potatoes, apples and chicken stock together to create this meatloaf-esque treat. You even have the option to freeze some of this and serve to him later when he’s been an especially good boy!
One thing to keep in mind for your pets this holiday season is that in addition to all the yummy things they are allowed to have, there are several things that can really hurt their bellies or even be fatal.
