‘Tis the season! To help brighten up the nights that come much earlier now, people are setting up Christmas lights and holiday decor. From single strands around the porch to all out light shows set to music, it’s always fun to drive around and look at the local decorations. Check out some over the top holiday homes in the Northern Virginia area that are lit up for winter 2018:
A personal favorite, the house on Bushey Drive does not disappoint. This drive-through display features blow up characters, signs, and tons of lights. Available to drive through from 5:30pm to 9pm until December 25th, this house is worth stopping by with windows rolled down to enjoy the music. Plan for a wait, though, as they only allow 8 cars at a time.
This home in Lorton is obviously a result of years of holiday cheer and collecting. Lit up from 5pm to 10:30pm until January 6th, stop by to check out this amazing display, with animated lights set to music. Be sure to enjoy at from a distance – the display is in a private yard.
A bright display that stays lit up from 5pm to 12am until the new year, these Christmas lights have a 10 minute light show set to music. To be sure you catch the whole show, the owners offer a “start” button on a sign in the display. And – to keep with the holiday spirit – they also accept donations to the American Cancer Society.
Tons of multicolored lights – the pictures don’t do it justice! This home is extremely bright and breathtaking with many string lights strung in different directions to create a unique visual. You have to see it to believe it.
Enjoy the lights give back at the same time – another home that collects donations for a good cause! As you drive by to admire the dozens of blow-up characters in this display, you can drop off cans and non-perishables for a food drive. The display is up until January 6th and usually stays on until 10:45pm.
This home is almost entirely covered in lights, from roof to the edge of the yard. From the son of another popular holiday display house in Virginia, some say this display is so bright it can be seen from space. Check out these lights from dusk to midnight until January 15th.
